Redefining Human Capital in the Age of AI — Introducing The Curiosity Xchange

This week, I’m excited to share something special from Funeducated — a new podcast series called The Curiosity Xchange.

It’s a space where ideas, research, and real human emotions meet. A place where we don’t just talk about innovation — we question it, challenge it, and connect it to what truly matters: people.

Our first episode, AI’s Impact on Human Capital, brings together two very different yet deeply connected worlds — technology and humanity. I had the privilege of speaking with Prof. Dr. Josse Roussel, Head of the DBA Program at ESGCI and a leading voice in human capital and higher education. Over the course of our conversation, we explored what AI is really doing to us — not just to our jobs, but to our sense of purpose, value, and connection.

Dr. Roussel currently serves as:

Rethinking Human Capital

Dr. Josse shared how human capital — once defined by skills, education, and productivity — must now evolve to include emotional capital, resilience, and ethical capital.

Because in this new era, intelligence isn’t just artificial — it’s adaptive, distributed, and deeply personal. He reminded us that health, well-being, and human connection are not side notes in this story — they are central to the future of human capital at every level: individual, organizational, and national.

The Shift in Skills and Value

AI is rewriting the equation of what’s valuable. Some skills are fading, but others — empathy, creativity, adaptability — are gaining new meaning.

As Dr. Josse put it, data may be the new gold, but humans remain the alchemists.

Together, we discussed how nations and organizations might soon measure worth not just through GDP or degrees, but through curiosity, adaptability, and imagination.

A Caution and a Hope

We also touched on the paradox of progress — how technology that connects us can also isolate us.
Smartphones once promised connection but often delivered loneliness. Will AI repeat that pattern? Or can we design a future where human connection strengthens, not fades?

Dr. Josse offered both caution and optimism: if we invest in upskilling, emotional intelligence, and social capital, AI can become our ally — a “digital colleague” that amplifies human purpose instead of replacing it.

Through The Curiosity Xchange, we’ll explore thought-provoking ideas — from education and psychology to art, philosophy, and the future of work — all through conversations that feel more human than scripted.
